The Book of Enoch

An ancient world within reach

A world of Watchers, heavenly journeys, judgment and hope, in a book of your own.

All 108 chapters of 1 Enoch in R. H. Charles’s 1912 English translation. 181 pages, with chapter and verse references, alternate passages and a source-symbol guide.

The historical volume’s general introduction, scholarly footnotes and indexes are excluded.

The story

The Watchers descend. Enoch journeys through the heavens. Visions of judgment reach beyond the span of a human life.

Give it a place on a shelf you pass each day, beside a favorite chair, or in the hands of someone drawn to ancient texts.

Charles’s 1912 translation has a history of its own: the source follows the SPCK edition of 1917 and its tenth impression of 1962. This edition contains all 108 chapters of 1 Enoch, with alternate passages and the source’s textual qualifications retained.

Chapter and verse references give you a place to return to. The symbol guide explains the marks along the way.

Choose it for the work itself and the pleasure of having your own copy. It contains no modern commentary or study course; the historical general introduction, scholarly footnotes and indexes are excluded.

One to keep. Another, perhaps, to give.

What is inside

• All 108 chapters of 1 Enoch in R. H. Charles’s historical English translation. • Alternate passages in the source’s chapter sequence. • Chapter and verse references, textual qualification marks and internal editorial matter. • A source-symbol guide and front matter explaining the edition.

181 pages. The historical volume’s general introduction, scholarly footnotes and indexes are excluded. Every quantity contains identical Enoch copies; companions are separate.

What this edition leaves out

This is the chapter text of 1 Enoch, including its alternate passages. It does not reproduce the entire historical Charles volume: the general introduction, most prefatory material, scholarly footnotes, indexes, transcriber notes and Gutenberg packaging are excluded. Editorial matter within the selected chapters remains.

No 2 Enoch, 3 Enoch, complete Ethiopian Bible, modern commentary or study course is included. The Angel Index and Jubilees are optional purchases.

The historical translation

R. H. Charles’s historical English translation, with its source qualifications retained.

The text follows Project Gutenberg ebook 77935: the SPCK 1917 edition and its 1962 tenth impression, reprinting Charles’s 1912 translation. These dates describe one translation’s publication history.

This edition makes no claim to be a new translation, an original-language manuscript or a new comparison of every surviving source.

For the curious reader

For your home, your curiosity, or someone who shares it.

Choose this edition if you want 1 Enoch in Charles’s historical English. Expect unfamiliar names, alternate passages and textual qualifications. The symbol guide explains the marks; it does not answer every question.

For a modern translation or extensive commentary, you will need a different edition or further sources. View the cover and sample before choosing.

The Angel Index

A companion for selected names

The names, close at hand.

A seven-page digital guide to 16 selected name spellings in 1 Enoch VIII and XX. Brief role summaries, source quotations and verse pointers keep each entry connected to its passage.

Optional with any Enoch quantity · US$14.95. Digital PDF only.

The seven-page PDF

Uriel. Michael. Gabriel. Familiar names beside less familiar spellings.

The Angel Index brings selected names from VIII and XX together in seven PDF pages. Each entry separates its brief role summary from the source’s words and points back to the verse.

Keep it beside your Enoch reading when you want the passage behind a name. Its 16 selected spellings do not establish 16 distinct angels. This is a focused reference, not a complete concordance.

What is included

Each entry includes a brief role summary, a source quotation, a chapter-and-verse pointer and relevant textual qualifications. Quotations follow the Charles text used for the Enoch book.

A separately compiled digital guide, with no printed booklet included.

Scope and limits

Limited to selected spellings in VIII and XX. It does not cover every angel or occurrence in Enoch, establish 16 distinct beings, reconcile identities or supply researched name meanings and etymologies.

Digital PDF only. Access and supported file use: access and supported file use are not yet confirmed.

The Book of Jubilees

The physical book

Give Jubilees a place beside Enoch.

Another ancient work for your shelf. Another way of looking at beginnings.

Framed by Moses on Mount Sinai, Jubilees returns to creation and earlier generations with close attention to years and observance.

Charles’s 1902 translation through Chapter L is accompanied by his historical notes, a reference key and selected chronology material. The notes compare texts, discuss readings and work through questions of time. They are part of the substance of this edition.

The general introduction and indexes are excluded. The prose and scholarly notes remain historical and can require background knowledge.

One physical Jubilees book. The digital PDF is a separate product.

The digital PDF

Jubilees, with Charles’s historical notes, in a 566-page PDF.

The same selected 1902 translation through Chapter L, reference key and chronology material as the physical edition. Fixed layout. Historical prose and scholarship.

US$9.95, offered after declining physical Jubilees. No printed book included.

The digital edition

This 566-page PDF contains the same selected Charles translation through Chapter L, notes, reference key and chronology material as the physical edition. The general introduction and indexes are excluded.

The pages have a fixed layout. The historical language and scholarly discussion remain unchanged in character; this is not a modern explanatory guide.

Digital only · US$9.95. Access and supported file use: access and supported file use are not yet confirmed. No physical book, Angel Index or digital Enoch is included.

Physical and PDF purchases are separate. Search, copying, screen-reader behavior and device support: access and supported file use are not yet confirmed. PDF format alone does not establish those capabilities.

The Three-Book Study Set contains 3 identical physical copies for US$179.95 total for the books. Keep one and give two, or put the same edition in three readers’ hands.
